Over 50 participants heard about NEW manufacturing opportunities for companies interested in becoming suppliers to the emerging U.S. offshore wind wnergy sector. CEMC Director Jacques Koppel began the event by exaining the new webinar series — Clean Energy Manufacturing Opportunities — will present information about a new market each month.
U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Cash Fitzpatrick explained the DOE’s Strategy and Manufacturing Opportunities related to Offshore Wind Energy. DOE recently announced seven pilot projects near Port Isabel, TX; Atlantic City, NJ; Lake Erie, OH; Coos Bay, OR; Boothbay Harbor, ME; Monhegan Island, ME; and Virginia Beach, VA – in order to accelerate the launch of an offshore wind industry in the United States. GLWN’s Patrick Fullenkamp further detailed specific component opportunities for domestic manufacturers and reviewed Germany’s current offshore wind manufacturing infrastructure.
